WHERE To Print caught up with the CEO of Oxygen8 Global Concept Limited – Mr. Adeleke Adefuwa who shared his experiences from his small humble beginning to what the company is noted for now. Below is excerpt:
WHAT KIND OF PRINTING DO YOU ENGAGE IN?
Oxygen8 brand communication is into large format printing, digital printing and offset Printing under the auspices of Oxygen8 Global Concept Limited, we also design and offer consultation services to our clients.
SINCE WHEN HAVE YOU BEEN IN BUSINESS?
We started printing business as jobbers; printing our jobs in other presses around but due to our innate desire to ensure quality and prompt service delivery to our numerous clients we decided to set up our company this year by installing our printing machines and putting our house in order to accommodate the extremely urgent and quality demands of our growing clients.
AS A PRESS OWNER, WHAT CAN YOU POINT AS YOUR MAJOR CHALLENGE NOW?
The major challenge we are facing now is space. The place we occupy now is choked up already which does not give room for expansion. Other challenges we are facing are epileptic power supply by the public power supplier; we also have machine maintenance issues and genuine consumables supplies. Because of our location getting genuine consumables on time is always difficult and calling for order sometimes hinder us from delivering our jobs promptly. This is because print business in Nigeria is import dependent, most of our supplies may not meet up our demand of 24 hours service delivery and this is an impediment to print business growth.
HOW HAVE YOU BEEN ADDRESSING THESE CHALLENGES?
We strive for quality, prompt delivery and highly considerate pricing. With these our core values aside our fervent believe in our God of possibilities, we know that our business will grow then we will expand to bigger and better space. On the issue of genuine consumables supply which not only affect print business bottom-line and is a health hazard to print operators; we always look for good and ethical consumables suppliers to work with. We also stock as much as possible the right consumables we frequently use so that we are not necessarily disturbed by the challenges others face so that we can promptly serve our customers. But ultimately, we appeal to the Federal Government Authorities like the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) to intensify their work on ensuring substandard consumables are not brought into the country. For the epileptic power supply, we have stand-by generators though cost of fueling and servicing are high, we ensure that we always meet up with our customers demand. Lastly, we have stand by service engineers to attend to any urgent needs on our machines.
WHAT CAN YOU SAY ABOUT THE QUALITY BEING CHURNED OUT IN THE INDUSTRY?
Well it is improving but there is still a lot to be done in terms of colour consistency and finishing. In fact, finishing is a major problem of majority of printers in Nigeria. Another issue is the non availability of varieties of special papers to choose from. In Nigeria, our options are quite limited in terms of getting varieties of papers to print on but Oxygen8 is not resting on her oars but we always network to seek for the best and special papers to work for our customers.
