Successive government neglect has turned Dare and Isijola Streets in Ikotun Area of Lagos – popularly called Mini Printers’ Village – to death trap and in turn, drastically affected print business activities in the area.
This is the concern of the Executive Members of the Association of Professional Printers of Nigeria (ASSPPON) Ikotun Chapter when WHERE To Print paid a courtesy visit to the print hub recently. Speaking with the Executives led by the Chairman, Adewunmi Jubril in company of Elder Olaifa, ASSPPON Patron – WHERE To Print gathered that several letters and pictures have been taken and presented to the Local Government which showed the sorry and dilapidated state of the area with the attendant implication on their print business activities, but successive government of Ikotun Local Council Development Area (LCDA) sidelined the area in terms of infrastructure and social amenities considering the necessary dues and tariffs paid to the local government council by the association.
According to them, “we have been to the council to appeal to them to do something about Dare and Isijola Streets. The road which have become an eye-sore for sometimes now but the officials always turn deaf-ear to our appeal. That was why some time ago, we decided to take the bull by the horn by taking the pictures of the street and sent them with an official letter to the Council Secretary who promised that the council will look into the matter. But since then, no step has been taken to provide us motorable road to conduct our print business from which we get money to pay our dues and tariffs to the council.” They said.
