Basking in the success of the 2012 edition PROPAK West Africa, Montgomery West Africa Limited has concluded plans to host the 2014 edition of West Africa’s biggest and the best packaging, print, plastics and labelling exhibitions – PROPAK West Africa 2014.
At a media parley to herald the premier and leading packaging, printing and plastics exhibition in the West African sub-region, Managing Director of Montgomery West Africa Limited – Tori Abiola informed that this year’s show – expected to take place from the 2nd to 4th September 2014 at the Eko Hotel and Convention Centre in Lagos, Nigeria – would feature international and local product leaders, regional and international experts and decision makers that are influencing and shaping West Africa’s packaging, print, plastics and labelling markets. “This year’s edition will also provide an unparalleled opportunity to examine future trends, identify immediate, long and short term needs and uncover (up and coming) technologies for use in critical areas thereby ensuring business advancement in a series of seminars scheduled during the three-day show”.
Also speaking at the press conference, Joju Adekanbi – PROPAK West Africa Sales Agent for West Africa noted that with the rebasing of Nigeria Gross Domestic Product (GDP) that culminated in Nigeria being the biggest economy in Africa, the onus lies on discerning investors to take advantage of the huge potentials and numerous opportunities in Africa’s most populated country, “that is why we’ve seen an increase in the number of exhibitors in this year edition with some, though attending for the first time, but taking some of the biggest spaces available to showcase their expertise, solution oriented and value-driven packaging, print, plastics and labelling products and services to top level decision makers coming for the show”.
President of Institute of Packaging, Nigeria (IOPN) Mr. Mike Adekola who was also present at the conference noted that the forthcoming exhibition was the best thing to happen to the packaging industry in Nigeria which made the Institute partnered with PROPAK West Africa for about six years. Though he said the biggest challenge of the packaging and printing industry in the country was the inability of Nigerians to keep abreast of technological advancements in the field, PROPAK West Africa 2014 he stressed would enable stakeholders with latest information and technology trend from industry experts during the 3-day five seminar streams in collocated sectors of the show such as digital printing, packaging, food processing, plastic, labeling and printing.
Printing industry regulatory body which also endorsed the show for the second time – Chartered Institute of Professional Printers of Nigeria (CIPPON) was also represented at the media parley by two Council Members – Alhaji Oyeneye Nurudeen and Rev. Okechukwu Nnorom who shared the opinion of IOPN President, Mr. Adekola that PROPAK West Africahas done a lot in supporting the printing industry in Nigeria. They therefore confirmed the Institute’s determination to promote the show to their members all over the country – just as they presented to the press – one of CIPPON’s promotional fliers specifically produced for the show tagged ‘VISIT PROPAK West Africa2014’ which is expected to be dispatched to all the States of the Federation to drive CIPPON members to visit the show.
The three-day exhibition will feature up to 80 exhibitors and hundreds of products on display. Visitors will get the chance to walk around seeing machinery and networking with experts who know most about the industries and the prospects. That is the more reason the show is supported by theInstitute of Packaging Nigeria (IOPN), World Packaging Organisation (WPO), Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), Chartered Institute of Professional Printers of Nigeria (CIPPON) and The National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
