Centre for Policy Development and Political Studies (CEPODEPS) has awarded George Kayode Noah – Managing Director of Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA) the Lagos State Man of Year 2014.
WHERE To Print gathered that Mr. Noah’s award as Lagos State Man of The Year 2014 is occasioned by his novel initiatives at LASAA including amongst others: the first institution in Nigeria to introduce Skype as a customer service platform; implementing Africa’s first water projection advertising in Lagos; part implementation of directional street signs and house numbering project; audience measurement research for outdoor advertisers; spearheading collaboration with other outdoor advertising regulatory bodies and stakeholders; driving innovative technologies resulting in iconic and ultramodern structures to compete with other developed countries in the world; and now organising what may turn out to be Africa’s biggest outdoor advertising conference and exhibition to be staged in Lagos State.
A consummate media guru who thinks out of the box, Lagos State Man of The Year 2014 has over 30 years experience in virtually all aspects of the media that has made him to be strategically appointed to both private and public positions at home and abroad like when he was recognized for his leadership skills, creativity and achievements in the ethnic minority section in London, UK as the Chairman of the London Borough of Southwark Co-operative Development Agency (SCDA) in 1992.
However, not many know that Mr. Noah is a political activist and technocrat. WHERE To Print gathered that he actively participated in the ‘June 12’ political imbroglio and human rights movement that ended the brutal military dictatorship in Nigeria. In fact, he was one of the founding members – and the anchor of Radio Kudirat, the anti-military rule radio station that was based in Norway and supported by American, British, Swedish, Danish and Norwegian governments in their quest to end the brutal military dictatorship in Nigeria.
The Lagos State Man of The Year Award by CEPODEPS is created as a credible award process to pay tribute to excellence by recognizing and rewarding outstanding personal achievements in private and public sectors in Lagos State – the commercial nerve centre of Nigeria.
