PREAMBLE
Founded in 1934, FUJIFILM started with photographic film manufacturing and since that time has grown to become a prominent global enterprise. It pioneers next generation inkjet digital printers, cosmetics, and medical products. As one of the core businesses of Fujifilm, FUJIFILM Global Graphic Systems (FFGS) comprises professionals who provide sales and customer support services for printing systems on a global scale.
TOTAL SOLUTION OF FFGS
FUJIFILM Global Graphic Systems (FFGS) plays a crucial role in developing a world-class lineup of products that are specifically suited to individual needs, thus helping customers to reach their goals in the following areas:
- Workflow
One of the key elements of Fujifilm’s XMF workflow offering is its performance as a communication system. Such performance creates a flexible connection between the client and the printer’s sales, estimating, and production departments. Fujifilm’s XMF goes further by establishing suitable communications for the process as a whole. This results in client trust and business expansion opportunities.
- CTP systems
The development and manufacture of aluminium printing plates is one of Fujifilm’s specialties. In fact, Fujifilm’s eco-friendly plates, setting new standards in the industry, retain one of the highest market share in the world. The main benefits of these plates are superior quality and low environment impact realised by a unique combination of technologies: plate, chemistry and ‘ZAC’ processing system. The company’s capacity to offer production equipments and materials, including CTP platesetters, processing systems, and developer waste reduction systems, is a major Fujifilm strength.
- Pressroom chemistry
Fujifilm fountain solutions offer industry leading quality with low environmental impact. Special over-emulsification control ensures accurate reproduction of sharp dots on CTP plates and unrivalled consistency.
- Digital presses
Inkjet digital presses are receiving worldwide attention as next-generation presses capable of on-demand output of ultra-high quality text and images. Fujifilm was early in the development of these technologies (starting around 10 years ago), and brought the world’s first B2 sheet-fed inkjet production press for commercial printing to market. Fujifilm digital presses consistently deliver image quality surpassing that of traditional offset. They also support the efficient and precise processing of variable printing.
- Packaging printing
Flexible packaging printing needs are evolving. In response, Fujifilm provides complete packaging printing systems based on flexographic CTP systems, presses, and colour proofing systems. Fujifilm is also pursuing further system expansion by engaging in plate and processing chemistry development aimed at achieving the widespread use of water-based flexo systems in this market.
- Wide format
The sign and display market is a stable growth area. To facilitate market entry, Fujifilm offers a versatile lineup of wide format UV inkjet printers, from entry level printers to ultra-high quality, multi-functional high-end printers. These printers win praise worldwide for enabling users to expand their businesses through their performance and productivity and their ability to help printers develop new added value applications.
GLOBAL GIANT IN GRAPHIC INDUSTRY
In a world full of printing system suppliers, Fujifilm is unrivalled in its ability to create a rich lineup of products from within its own group. In addition, to this diversity, Fujifilm products also feature industry leading quality and performance. The company’s printing plates, for example, command a 40% market share worldwide.
WHY?
- Fujifilm plate philosophy
Guaranteeing consistent high quality plates and uninterrupted supply requires long-term investment in sophisticated manufacturing techniques and efficient logistics. Fujifilm has invested in its plate supply infrastructure over many years so that printers can benefit from consistent high quality plates, day-in, day-out. Fujifilm plates also use less chemistry and water; requires less processor maintenance; and help reduce environment impact.
- Automated manufacturing process
Fujifilm has four plate manufacturing facilities world-wide, one of which is a 63 hectares facility in Tilburg, the Netherlands that is a fully automated, 24/7 facility that delivers world-class printing plates. This automated and state-of-the-art facility has a new wind farm and other sustainable projects and benefitted from a 96 Million EURO investment in a new PS-10 plate line that was completed in 2011. It serves the European, African and Middle Eastern markets.
- Consistent high quality plates delivered day-in, day-out
High quality printing plates are an essential component of offset print production. However, quality means nothing if it is not achieved consistently. Fujifilm achieves consistent high quality plate production thanks to the meticulous attention to detail and level of automation throughout production, in conjunction with rigorous quality and inspection process. Manufacturing is so advanced on all three plate lines that every stage up until the final process of packing is automated (even the delivery to and from the warehouse of each 7 tonne coil of aluminum is automated). Ultimately, each plate that is manufactured is scanned for defects, with any plate exhibiting a defect immediately scrapped.
- New PS-10 plate line
The new PS-10 plate line opened in December 2011 is the most sophisticated plate manufacturing line in the world. It is designed not only to manufacture Brilla processed and ‘lo-chem’ plates, but also Fujifilm’s most advanced printing plate ever, Brilla HD PRO-T3.
FUJIFILM PLATES…
Fujifilm has long been known for plate quality, and has plates for most applications, for example conventional, CTP and newspaper, as well as industry leading ‘lo-chem’ or processless plates.
Thermal plates
Lead times are getting tighter…
…run lengths are getting shorter, and print quality is improving. Making the switch to CTP or upgrading your current platesetter is a necessary step for many in the industry. No single CTP system is right for every situation, which is why Fujifilm offers a variety of CTP devices and solutions, both thermal and violet and from 2-up to 8-up, and from VLF to newspaper systems.
