Based on his achievements and members’ confidence on his ability during his last tenure of office, Executive Members of the Association of Professional Printers of Nigeria (ASSPPON) Agege Chapter have re-elected immediate past Chairman – Atanda Joseph (popularly called Atarex) to continue as Chairman of the association for another tenure.
In a chat with WHERE To Print recently in his office, Atanda Joseph expressed his gratitude to all members of the association particularly the Executives who reposed confidence in him for another tenure. He therefore promised to re-dedicate himself to ensure individual members growth and make ASSOPPON Agege Chapter – one of the best printing hubs in Nigeria. This he said has begun with the merger of Orile Agege LCDA Master Printers with Agege Local Government ASSPPON to operate under one umbrella as ASSPPON Agege Chapter. Speaking further on this, he said despite the merger – autonomy has been given to Orile Agege ASSPPON to do their meetings in their area due to distance and size of its members but can still meet once in a while with the Agege Local Government ASSPPON for General Meeting.
Baring his mind on his utmost desire is to turn Agege to another printing hub in Lagos and encourage investors to establish printing businesses especially sellers of consumables and other printing materials in Agege area, Atanda noted that the gesture would encourage economic development in the area while also boosting members’ print businesses as they would not be going to Mushin and Shomolu areas of Lagos for printing services that his members can easily do.
According to him, “the major challenge we are facing in Agege is lack of press with modern printing technology because the biggest machine we have here is Kord. I believe if investors can come and invest in Agege, this will no doubt open the eye of some of our members who have chosen to remain obsolete thus challenge them to put all what we are have been teaching them during various seminars we organised over the years to practice. This will definitely aid the development and growth of their print business.”
