It will be recalled that in the middle of this year, newly inaugurated Newtown Printers’ Association (NPA) – an amalgamation of all the printers in the Ayawaso Central Constituency, had urged the Government to enforce the policy of printing all textbooks, exercise books and notebooks locally.
According to the President of NPA, Mrs. Abigail Padi the need to strictly implement the policy would go a long way to create more jobs in the Printing Industry thereby forestalling all vices in the country. “If we really want to create jobs, let’s print our textbooks, exercise books, notebooks and any other printing works in Ghana,” she said while confirming the capacity of Printers in Ghana to handle all request by the Government to print educational books. Besides, she informed that the association was negotiating with some financial institutions to extend loans to its members for them to acquire the latest digital printing machines to improve the quality of their prints. She however asked Government to reduce taxes for local printers to lessen their financial commitments so that they could invest in Ghana to create more jobs and needed revenue for the Governments.
