The National Union of Printing Publishing and Paper Product Workers (NUPPPPROW) has concluded plans to visit all the 36 State Government Presses in Nigeria to sensitize State Governments on the need to equip their presses with modern print technologies and create a conducive environment for its members.
According to Comrade Habeeb Kareem – NUPPPPROW Deputy General Secretary, Administration and Education in a chat with WHERE To Print on behalf of the Union National President – Comrade Ayokunle Olaoye, the Union decided to take the bull by the horn in a bid to make Governments upgrade obsolete equipment in their presses to modern and cost-effective ones to compete well at both local and international arenas.
Not only that, Comrade Kareem noted that by upgrading Government presses, members would be encouraged and be more enthusiastic to their work while also serving as a vital source of revenue generation for the State aside creating employment opportunities with multiplier effects on the State’s economy. He also disclosed that part of the Union Agenda for 2015 was to embark on negotiation of workers’ wages and salary review while sensitizing their members to be security conscious during this year’s general election.
