National Library of Nigeria – as part of her sensitization programme recently held a seminar in Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital to enlighten publishers, printers and authors on the need to make legal deposit of any publish work done in the country with the National Library Offices across the country.
Speaking at the event, Director of National Library – Mallam Abeeb Aba Nato said the aim of the legal deposit was to gather comprehensive list of any literary journals, books or titles published in Nigeria and preserve for present and future generations. He thereby urged those concern to start to deposit their publish works with any National Library close to them to avoid facing the wrath of law.

He also enjoined stakeholders in printing, publishing and literary sectors to see legal deposit as a means of collecting and cataloguing intrinsic intellectual values and acquisition of literary works – not only for easy access to the general public but more importantly – preservation of intellectual works.
