‘IBADAN IS MORE CONDUCIVE THAN LAGOS’ – SAVE AS LARGE FORMAT PRINTS

Though the commercial nerve centre of Nigeria, Lagos has been described as a highly volatile place influenced by its hustle and bustle nature with attendant stress to print business owners. This was the submission of Mr. Yusuf Afolabi Sunday, the Chief Executive Officer of Save As Large Format Prints (subsidiary of Content Dynamix) – an offset printing, publishing, packaging and branding firm located in Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital.

In an interview with WHERE To Print magazine at his Ibadan office recently, Mr. Yusuf Afolabi Sunday explained that, “despite the fact that printing is a lucrative business on its own, the hustle and bustle nature of Lagos coupled with high cost of doing business in the State will make an average printer in Ibadan to get quick Return on Investment compared to an average printer in Lagos” expressing further that “Ibadan is very peaceful and has been known to be accommodating, with low cost of living thereby making Ibadan the better place to do print business”.

He however noted that Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital also has some challenges which an average printer faces. He mentioned unhealthy competition among players, price war, and untamed activities of quacks as some of the challenges faced by players in the industry in Ibadan. “Some investors bring substandard printing machines into Ibadan and reduce their price to make quick money. There are also quarks that are practically making the business difficult for professional printers. These are not sustainable in the long run and I hope we come together and fight these unhealthy practices” he suggested.
