Exhibiting at the just concluded 17th Annual Sign & Graphic Imaging Middle East (SGI 2014) held at Dubai World Trade Centre, UAE from 7th to 9th January 2014, WHERE To Print caught up with SAGA Digital Director – Mehdi Berrada Baby at to know more about their wide range of product offerings. Below is excerpt:

What newest product are you exhibiting?

Apart from our versatile EFI™ VUTEk^® digital superwide printers that print at exceptional high quality for greater profitability, we also offer a range of machines such as the flatbed cutter, the high speed printer Vortex, and the indoor printer MUTOH. The latest machine we have is the Vortex printer which is the fastest water-based ink printer in the world. We feel it is the biggest innovation at the (SGI 2014 Dubai) show. It’s the fastest digital printer on the market. It can print 130 meter in less than 4 minutes with resolution up to 1600x1600dpi. This is great for indoor printing for various different applications such as; graphic campaigns for energy, telecommunications, banking, and elections, as well as engineering drafting.

How durable are your machines?

EFI is very well known for their innovation in the market. EFI has implemented LED technology implemented in the wide format along with the grey scale. It has 1000 dpi resolution, as well as white ink. EFI printers are all UV Curable, versatile, and user-friendly. We at Saga Digital have carefully chosen to distribute the EFI products as well as the MUTOH, Vortex and Colex because they are very rugged and durable.

What about your after sale service?

We’re on the ground. Parts, inks and media are available on ground 24/7. We are reachable. And we are always ready to train and retrain operators when needed. We are a big family. Decisions are taken faster from the moment we receive inquiries, our response are immediate for sale, service or maintenance backup.

How will you deal with inquiries from Nigeria?

We have an office in Lagos. At Suite 027, Nikky Africana Plaza, 70C, Allen Avenue, Ikeja Lagos. Office is with sales as well as engineering people. We also have both consumables and parts on ground.

What’s your payment terms?

We have financing options to our customers. We can meet and discuss the specifics with the clients and their needs to search for ways to help.

What are your plans for the Nigerian market in 2014?

Nigeria has always been our key region. That is why in this year, we want to increase our sales and service portfolio with competent and high calibre technical team. We know that it’s of no use to only have good machines without back-up. So we are expanding our technical team to respond and handle our customers’ queries 24/7.

We are coming aggressively this year with our structure there. We are planning a seminar this year in order for the market to be familiar with our products. We believe what makes a strong product is the service and we believe we have the best service and equipment. We also plan to have open house and take part in the Propak West Africa 2014 exhibition in Lagos.

SAGA looks for ways to help our clients expand their business and offerings to the market.  To start with, we are happy to introduce other product lines such as the finishing equipment, specialty media, digital inks and digital media.

For the finishing line, we have the Colex Cutters, a US made and robust CNC router, with multiple options, including creasing, knife cutting, kiss cutting, for use in making POP displays, packaging etc, while having a camera to read marks that the digital printer placed to contour finish.

For the Specialty media, we collaborate with Ilford – a specialty media supplier, who is very well known in the photo industry.  The market has a vast number of great suppliers of vinyl, banner, flex, textile for our industry, but there are some specialty items that are not easily found, so we decided to supply our clients with this media, to give them the ability to always have the extra edge over their competitors.

For the digital inks, SAGA is carrying its own brand of inks for virtually all the wide and superwide format digital printers.  In addition, we are able to get digital inks for many other specialty digital printers such as marking, garments and many others.

In this new age of public advertising, we bring to the market a large range of products in the Digital Media, from the hardware to the software as well as the firmware. Included in our portfolio are the technical know-how and capabilities to train or even manage your contents.
