Komori Corporation has announced the development of the KP-Connect API to strengthen the linkage between KP-Connect, a software package that promotes Smart Factory development in the printing industry, and remote production devices.
The Application Programming Interface (API) software is a set of defined rules that enable different applications to communicate with each other thus will be provided to Komori users, alliance partners, and suppliers.
Komori has promoted linkage of JDF, CSV, and direct link for the overall workflow collaboration that is essential for the development of Smart Factories. In the future, the company said it will develop and provide communication protocols to enable connection with other manufacturing processes and logistics and fields where JDF linkage is difficult. This will enable smooth connection of KP-Connect with a wider range of processes and equipment.
According to a statement from Komori, the company said it will also develop a cloud-based API for wider utilization of KP-Connect data. This will increase the flexibility of aggregation and analysis as well as enable operation analysis from the user’s own perspective. KP-Connect collects and retains operating performance information from domestic and overseas users. By sharing KP-Connect information with alliance partners and suppliers, it will be possible to utilize the data through the API for new proposals and problem solving.
This API is scheduled to be released in October 2023, and Komori aims to improve the value proposition of KP-Connect.
