The Year 2020 will be remembered as a great, historic turning point in human history. Observers believe that it is not just the pandemic that occurred early in the year but a combination of other factors that create an unprecedented shift in our individual and collective consciousness. WHERE To Print believes that taking the time to step back and look at the bigger picture of 2020 can help us realize just how much has happened in the past months for us to be grateful for. Characteristically, WHERE To Print VOX POP Crew went to town and met print practitioners who gave their 2020 appraisal with expectations towards 2021 Business Year. Read excerpt below:

MR. ALABI AYODELE – PROMPT PRINTS

2020 is a year to remember. COVID-19 started at the beginning of the year forcing people to stay at home with all businesses locked down. Programmes and events cancelled; it was terrible for printers. We hope 2021 will be favorable. However, this situation has necessitated all printers to go into more research and dwell more on digital prints in 2021.

MR. AJIBOLA SAKA – AJIB PRINT SOLUTIONS

First was the COVID-19 lockdown that saw the closure of all activities in the country for some months followed by the #ENDSARS protest which was the fight against police brutality, but to the glory of God, we are overcomers and, in our expectation, we pray God will assist us on our new digital flexible printing machine we recently launched to satisfy our customers for their flexible packaging printing item needs such as beverage labels, food/ snacks packaging prints, lubricant labels, pharmaceutical labels, bottle water labels, bread packaging, branded cellotapes, detergent labels among others.

MR. ODUNTAN OPEYEMI – DIGITAL FORMATION

This year is a tough and challenging year but my expectation for the year 2021 is that, it will be better than this year and a higher hope in God.

MR. OLUWAGBENGA DAMILARE – OCTOBER DESIGN

The year 2020 was a little bit bad and not really as expected, but I am expecting a greater next year with large business orders for in 2021.

MR. KALU ESSIEN – KALU’S PRESS

In 2020, a lot happened but my most memorable part of the year is when I decided to open a business of my own. Started my business in February this year before the lockdown. But was fully opened by May 2020. I pray that in 2021, I get more customers and move higher business-wise.

MR. SEGUN OWOLABI – G. MASTERS

2020 is COVID-19 year. I pray for more business, more pay, more success, and everything good in 2021.

MR. TOHEED OYELEKE – DIVINE FAVOUR PRINTS

The most memorable parts of the year for me was the #ENDSARS protest as well as the lockdown. It taught us a lot and we are hoping 2021 will be better for us all in Jesus name.

MR. KEN MADU – VIRGIN PUBLISHERS

The COVID-19 outbreak and the effect it had on print materials in terms of hike in prices has been the most memorable and most unpleasant phase in my business. But as the COVID-19 crisis is gradually dying down, I look forward to a better Business Year in 2021.

MR. ADEWALE ISRAEL – SUNLIAT PRINTS

Well I cannot say much; the first memory of this year to me was the lockdown and the spread of coronavirus. I can never forget the numbers of people that died, for example former Chief of Staff to the President – Mr. Abba Kyari, may his soul rest in peace. And recently we have been through many things and heard things about the #ENDSARS protests where people also died while other were injured. I just pray and hope the year 2021 will be a compensation for the year 2020 by God’s grace.

MISS OMOWUNMI ISHOLA – KULEE PRODUCTIONS

The most memorable part of the year was when there was over 200 percent increase in the cost of the materials and consumables used for production. As for 2021 Business Year, I just pray and hope that I am still in business then.

MR. ABDUL OLUWASEUN – CENSOR PRINTS LTD

My memorable part of the year 2020 is the 10th month of this year which is October. Most of my customers came around for their jobs which was delivered to them safely and on time. My expectations for 2021 business year are good job opportunities and venturing into other businesses.

MR. KOLAWOLE AYINLA – SKYHEIGHT NIGERIA LTD

Basically, looking at the year 2020, it is a very rough year. It is unique because we hardly expect such a year like this. In my lifetime, I have never experienced what happened this year before; it made the economy harsh on everyone as a result of COVID-19 pandemic that has ravaged the year. Also, the #ENDSARS protest and curfew added to that which we’ve not witnessed before. What also makes 2020 memorable was that we were all on lockdown for almost 4 – 5 months; no one can forget that. There was fear in the minds of everyone. My expectations for the year 2021 is that after darkness comes light. Invariably, at the end of the tunnel, we all expect to see the light. It has also re-sensitized so many. A lot of people have learnt new things and will do better in 2021.

MR. ODEKILEKUN KHALEED – SONILAG PRODUCTION

The most memorable part of the year for me obviously was the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic. And my expectations for 2021 is to experience more grace in my business and also promotions in every aspect of my life.

MR. ODUNOLA EBENEZER – FOLLY B GRAPHICS AND PRINTING EMPIRE

Well, in my own point of view, the most memorable part of the year is the entire year itself being the most challenging I have ever experienced business-wise. My expectations for 2021 is for it to be a consolation year for all the troubles of this year. Hopefully, with the experience gained it will be a better year for us all.

MR. ALLI DAMILARE – DRAYDEZIGN

My expectation for 2021 Business Year is to see that; the prices of materials and print consumables in the market will be normalize so that our business can move forward and also the invention of new printing machines that can print 5000 copies of A2 in one hour.

MR. AMOS ONYEKWE – GREAT ENVELOPS & PACKAGING

2020 was a very terrible year down from the COVID-19 pandemic as well as the #ENDSARS protest that just came up recently. It took a lot from us and I do not think anyone will ever forget this year in a while. As for 2021, we expect good things and we pray God helps us achieve good things and also recover all what we have lost in 2020.

MR. BAMIDELE BUHARI – A.B BAMIDELE PRINTS

The year 2020 was indeed a very tough year. Every one of us was affected one way or the other. As for the year 2021, we expect glorious things. Not disputing the fact that only God knows the end from the beginning. May God see us through.

MISS ADEJOKE OLUWABUKOLA – MOVA GRAPHICS & PRINT TECH LTD

The most memorable part of this year 2020 is the coronavirus lockdown; it really affected our business and also stopped us from planning or fixing things. We are hoping and expecting increment in sales by 2021 and also establish other branches across the States of the Federation.

MR. JOHN EKINODO – EKINODO ONNOREDE VENTURES

Generally, this is a year that cannot be forgotten. Most businesses have collapsed and everybody is not happy about it. A lot of things like prices of materials for production have gone up and it has affected us badly. We just pray that God helps us in 2021. We do not pray to experience the same thing next year. Price control should also be managed in our industry.

MR. HAKEEM OLUSANYA – MAYOR PRINTS

The most memorable part of 2020 for me is the COVID-19 lockdown period; all events were grounded and there was no income at all from the business. Felt like the business was going to crash. But my expectations are quite high for 2021 because I seek to diversify my sources of income so I do not get trapped like I was, during the COVID-19 lockdown.

MR. BOSUN OLOYEDE – COMMERCIAL PRESS

To state the fact, the year 2020 has been a year with ups and downs; it is a year worth remembering and when it comes to business, it shows paradigm shift in business. Even if we cannot prevent dangerous viruses from emerging, we should prepare to dampen their effects on society.

MR. DANIEL SHEDDRACK – SHEDDA BUSINESS HUB

The most memorable part of 2020 as widely known was the pandemic, and the fact that many businesses had to be shut down for months which affected the economy and various sources of income. For me, my expectation for 2021 Business Year is for the economy to bounce back and better for businesses to thrive effectively and productively.

MR. ADEWALE VICTOR – SHOVIC PRODUCTION

For me, I saw the economy struggle to get back to its feet which is not a worthwhile experience. 2020 exposed the world’s vulnerable situation making various industries suffer major setbacks. My expectation for 2021 business year is to have a great financial year where enormous profit would be recorded.

MR. FUNSHO ARO – FUNSHOW PRINTS COMPANY

The most memorable part of 2020 I will say is COVID-19 and God’s faithfulness during the period. And my expectation for 2021 Business Year is peace without pandemic and robust economy for businesses to thrive.

MR. JOHN KENNEDY – JOPSTOP PRODUCTIONS

Honestly, I wouldn’t just totally write the year 2020 off as being a disaster because in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, there have been amazing acts of kindness and courage; also, people getting to know God more. It is my believe that we continue to forge ahead because of these amazing acts that are the best part of humanity.

MR. KEHINDE ADETULE – JK PRINTS

The year 2020 was a very challenging year for me personally not just the pandemic. I had an encounter where I lost goods worth over hundred thousand through fraudsters. I just thank God that I am alive today and still trying to pick up but I am highly looking forward to 2021 for a fresh start and for those that have been established this year will move to another level next year.
