With 2016 behind us, trying to look into the future of the printing industry is bound to be a challenge. Not only for the fact that the industry (on its own) continues to change at an ever increasing pace but economies around the world constantly evolve thus I dare to predict where market forces, consumables/ materials, technologies, and applications will be in the coming years. Yet in all these, I can rightly say some developments and/ or evolutions will certainly happen this year.
Digital printing will (of course) continue to evolve and dominate print business – not only for its short run advantage but the sector will see other genre of printing investing quite a large chunk of the R&D budget into innovations that will shape the future of print, in years to come.
Most certainly also, print equipment manufacturers will forge alliances and collaborate (with huge capital investment) on all aspects of printing from softwares systems to processes, on to techniques and hardware especially catering for the small/ medium scale businesses or start-ups in areas such as digital printing, labeling, packaging and out-of-home/ merchandising. Note that this will definitely bring even more printers into the world of digital printing with attendant multiplier effects on other allied print businesses and the economy in general. The question is: – are you ready to take advantage of the opportunities?
2017 is definitely going to be a year of tremendous opportunities even in the face of recent ‘economic stress’ – to me that is even the catch. I just want to enjoin you to remain focused, plan ahead and commit all to your Maker. You owe me your testimony at the end of this great year!
